What is a Statement In Support of Claim?

Has the VA sent you notification asking for additional information to support your claim or a detailed explanation of something regarding your claim?  To submit the information or explanation, then you would to complete a Statement in Support of Claim.

A Statement in Support of Claim can be typed or hand written.  You can use the VA Form 21-4138 or a plain piece of paper.  The important thing to remember is that your statement includes or describes the evidence that supports your claim.  It could be a statement from a family member or friend regarding how your PTSD has affected your life after discharge.  It could be a personal statement on why you are seeking service connection for a specific illness or condition.  It could even explain why certain documentation may be missing out of your military record.  It does not have to be a certain length or format just pertinent to your claim.

If you are not sure if your claim requires a Statement in Support of Claim or you have additional questions, call the office of Jan Dils, Attorneys at Law at 1-877-526-3457, or tell us about your claim now.
